The common name comes from the smell of rotting flesh it exudes. Also known as a corpse flower, it is one of 28 species in the rafflesia genus. The corpse flower was first made known to the outside world by italian botanist and explorer odoardo beccari in 1878.

The corpse flower has gained its name from the very repugnant odor that it emits.

The corpse flower aka titan arum. The common name comes from the smell of rotting flesh it exudes. Carrion flowers or stinking flowers, any flower that emits an odor that smells like rotting flesh. In the places where it is found, the plant is invariably surrounded by the corpses of those unfortunate creatures it has poisoned, which in turn attract great clouds of flies and other vermin which seem to be immune to the any victims that die from this final burst will sprout new corpse flowers in 1d4 days.
